The guttural voice behind Batman's black mask may soon be silenced, according to the man who plays the iconic superhero.Bale played the Gotham protector in two previous Batman films: “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” both of which were directed by Christopher Nolan.
Late last year, the actor spoke to E! News and expressed his desire even then to put his Batman era to rest.“The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman,” he said. Joining Bale in his last sojourn as the Caped Crusader for the upcoming film are newcomers Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy. Bale praised his three costars as being “wonderful,” “phenomenal” and “intriguing,” respectively.
But for all of Batman's tough-and-tumble stunts, the hardest role, he acceded, probably went to Hathaway. "There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously," he said. "So, I always saw Anne's role as being the toughest job of any of us."
