Pakistan Army Soldiers Carry Coffin NATO Attack Victims For Funeral In Peshawar, Pakistan.

killed 24 soldiers
Pakistani officials say the country will boycott an upcoming meeting in Germany on the future of Afghanistan to protest a deadly attack by U.S.-led forces on its troops. The officials say the decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday in the city of Lahore.U.S. and Pakistani forces The decision reflects Pakistan's anger over the incident on Saturday that killed 24 soldiers along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The decision comes after a U.S. military account of the strike suggested the deaths resulted from a case of mistaken identity.

U.S. officials are working on the assumption the Taliban chose the location for the first attack, to create just such confusion, and draw U.S. and Pakistani forces into firing on each other, according to U.S. officials briefed on the operation.

The Xavier Players Break And Delivered The Lay-Up That Ensured Overtime

Holloway scored
The Point guard Tu Holloway scored 21 of his 24 points after halftime and buried consecutive 3-pointers in overtime to extend the team's record to 5-0, the best start in coach Chris Mack's two-plus season tenure. XU got another huge boost from Mark Lyons, who scored 15 of his 19 points after the break and delivered the lay-up that ensured overtime. XavierAfter Vandy's John Jenkins missed a jump shot with 12 seconds remaining, former Commodore Andre Walker grabbed one of his team-high 14 rebounds and found Lyons. The shooting guard scored in transition with 6.5 seconds left, knotting the game at 66.

For years Holloway has had a reputation as a big-game player, and Monday was no exception. After making what Mack called "monster dagger threes" in overtime, the momentum shifted to Xavier and stayed there for good.

The Union Leader Endorsement Is No Guarantee Of A primary Victory

Mixed record for Union Leader nod
The good news for the former House speaker is that New Hampshire’s most influential newspaper was an early booster of Ronald Reagan and Pat Buchanan ahead of their primary wins, and four years ago, threw its weight behind John McCain as he resurrected his campaign with a victory in the state.

The Union Leader went for Steve Forbes in 2000. That year, publisher Joe McQuaid wrote that Forbes “believes in what he says and he says it. His two main rivals, on the other hand, seem much more interested in what the news media say about them than in their own message.”

Union Leader editorial page editor Drew Cline, who appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, drew a parallel between the Manchester paper’s endorsement of McCain in 2008 and its endorsement of OGingrich in the 2012 GP contest.

Question Raise From Facebook's Phone Will Fail

Facebook
Facebook’s supposedly forth coming smartphone, reported by All Things D, paints the picture of a company that either thinks it can do no wrong, is feeling incredibly squeezed by Apple and Google.
The impression created is that Facebook is weaker and has more problems than most people imagine. Not good with an IPO supposedly around the corner.Since Walt Mossberg’s site gets all the best leaks, I am betting the report is as true a story as Facebook is willing to tell 12-18 months pre-launch. But if their story is a tad off, the alternate reality is more interesting and might smartphonebe more successful.

The same sort of hubris that makes Facebook believe the world is clamoring for it to be in the smartphone business will eventually be its downfall. Facebook has more corporate ego than Microsoft could ever imagine and it will come back to haunt the company in the form of big legal challenges.

The Best American Sports Player Got Injury brings Cutler

The NFL can have such a simple cruelty. Jay Cutler was having his best moment, chipping away at the embarrassment of last season’s NFC Championship Game. It was a play that showed how invested he has become in the team. It also might have been the play that got him hurt.

What was happening to Cutler? He took charge after that. Behind the scenes, he took on Martz and his whacked-out play-calling. Cutler found a way to use his stand-off-ishness to start to build something important. He turned surliness into toughness. That week, he, and presumably Coach Lovie Smith, talked with Martz. It was an intervention. Cutler took control over the play-calling.

Cutler was going to have to stand on his own. And the Bears’ coaches and front office went about pitching him at every turn, on every interview, as the team’s new leader. Greg Couch has been a national columnist at AOL Fanhouse and The Sporting News and an award-winning columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times. He was featured twice in "Best American Sports Writing" and was recognized this year by the US Tennis Writers ... Injury brings Cutler to screeching halt.
