Kevin Pietersen fined for speeding in Australia




England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has been fined for speeding after driving a Lamborghini sports car along the Great Ocean Road near Melbourne in Australia.

He was fined A$239 (about £150) after clocking 121 kilometres (75 miles) per hour in a 100kph (62 mph) zone.

The England team said no disciplinary action would be taken against him.

Pietersen, 30, was named man of the match after scoring 227 in England's win in the second Test which gives them a 1-0 lead in the Ashes series.

"Geelong highway police detected by laser a yellow Lamborghini travelling north along the Geelong Ring Road at 121km/h in a 100 zone about 2:35pm on Thursday," a police spokesperson said.

"The male driver was in his 30s and was issued with a penalty of A$239 and three demerit points. There were no passengers in the vehicle."

Pietersen had posted pictures of the local scenery on the micro blogging site Twitter , on which he has nearly 115,000 followers.

"Stunning beaches on The Great Ocean Rd.. Gorgeous drive!!" he said.

Pietersen said the car was provided by his friend, the former Australian spinner Shane Warne.

England won the second Test in Adelaide by an innings and 71 runs.

They play Victoria in a tour match on Friday before the third Test, which starts in Perth on 16 December.
