WikiLeaks nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for 'transparency'



Wikileaks is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by a Norwegian Politician. The whistle blowing WikiLeaks website, that landed its founder behind bars, is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize due to its use as a “gauge of transparency in the world.”

Snorre Valen, a member of the Norweigian coalition government’s Socialist Left Party, is the man behind the WikiLeaks nomination, according to ABC News.

Valen cites Liu Xiaobo, a jailed Chinese dissident, as an example of someone who was in trouble with the law and still won the Nobel Peace Prize. Xiaobo was jailed for his work in human rights, democracy, and freedom of speech in China.

Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, who is originally from Australia, is currently out on bail in Britian fighting extradition back to Sweden. He is accused of sexual assault in Sweden. He is staying at a home of his friend, where he has limited time off the property according to the provisions of his bail.
